When Will Jesus Return for us?
““Now from the fig tree learn this parable. When its branch has now become tender, and produces its leaves, you know that the summer is near. Even so you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away, until all these things are accomplished. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matthew 24:32-36 WEB)
When Jesus said “no one knows of that day and hour,” a Jewish audience who knows the Old Testament (Torah) will see the connection with the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah).
It is celebrated at the same time as Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year).
The Bible says that on the Feast of Trumpets, the shofar (a cleaned-out ram’s horn) is to be sounded.
The Jews in charge of blowing the shofar would wait until the approximate date of the appearance of the new moon in the month of September, and watch intently, ready to blow the shofar once the first sliver of new moon is seen.
See this quote about Rosh Hashanah from Wikipedia:
“Since the time of the destruction of the Second Temple of Jerusalem in 70 CE and the time of Rabban Yohanan ben Zakkai, normative Jewish law appears to be that Rosh Hashanah is to be celebrated for two days, because of the difficulty of determining the date of the new moon.”
In other words, no one knows the day or hour of the new moon’s appearance—just like the Rapture!
See this quote too:
“The best-known ritual of Rosh Hashanah is the blowing of the shofar, a musical instrument made from an animal horn. The shofar is blown at various points during the Rosh Hashanah prayers, with a total of 100 blasts on each day. While the blowing of the shofar is a Biblical statute, it is also a symbolic "wake-up call", stirring Jews to mend their ways and repent. The shofar blasts call out: "Sleepers, wake up from your slumber! Examine your ways and repent and remember your Creator."”
Many Christians are mistaken that the Rapture happens at the last trumpet of the seven trumpets in the Book of Revelation. This would mean that the saints go through the Tribulation and are subject to God’s wrath that will be poured out on this world. However, this is not true.
“in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:52 WEB)
On the Feast of Trumpets, a hundred blasts of the trumpet are sounded. The final blast of the trumpet is the “last trump”. The moment the last trump is founded, we will be transformed. Our mortal bodies will be changed into glorified immortal bodies.
Christians who have already died are called “the dead in Christ” or “asleep”. Bring asleep suggests that it is a temporary state; that they will wake up again.
It is significant that the Jews see the blowing of the shofar on the Feast of Trumpets as a “wake-up call” to awake sleepers from their slumber.
“Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” (Daniel 12:2 WEB)
The resurrection of the dead will begin with the dead in Christ: all Old Testament and New Testament saints who are saved through faith in Yahweh/Yeshua (Jesus). Their physical bodies which have decayed will be formed back from the dust of the earth, and their spirit will go back into the body. Then, they will be simultaneously transformed with us who are alive and remaining.
Whether or not the Rapture of the saints literally occurs on the Feast of Trumpets or not, we understand that this feast is a picture of the Rapture. If you do not like this term, then you can also call it “the great escape”, “the snatching away”, or “harpazo”.
An archangel will sound many blasts on a heavenly shofar, and at the last blast, we will be changed and be caught up to meet Jesus in the air. It will be a great reunion to see all your loved ones who are asleep at the moment. We will embrace each other amid the clouds, and finally see the Lord face to face.
Are you ready to be receive your new body and to meet the Lord? The return of the Lord is the blessed hope for every Christian, and the signs in this world seem to show that we are in the season of the Rapture.
Once the first sliver of the ‘new moon’ appears, Jesus will stand up and come to receive His bride. Be watchful and excited, for we are not waiting for death, but for our bodily redemption!

The Souvenir
A broken porcelain cup that has been glued back together would be considered by most people as trash to be tossed out.
However, to the couple who bought it in Italy during a honeymoon trip together, it can be one of the most valuable items in the world.
The key difference is that for a stranger, the cup has no significance, but to the couple, the cup triggers a memory of an important event in their lives.
Likewise, when the world sees Christians partaking of a piece of bread and a small sip of juice, they don’t see the significance. To them, it probably just seems like a weird ritual.
However, to us who know the significance, the Lord’s Supper triggers our imagination to return to the time where Jesus was suspended on the cross.
Looking at the broken bread, we think of the flesh on Jesus’ back being cruelly broken by the Roman flagellum. Then, turning to the juice (or wine), we picture Jesus’ blood flowing down the crucifix, flowing like a stream.
These internal pictures help us to focus on the truths that Jesus was wounded for our healing and that He bled so that we could be redeemed and receive forgiveness of sins.
Jesus has given us the Lord’s Supper as a holy souvenir to remember His death at the cross. Through the communion elements, our faith awakens and we are reminded how righteous we are now in Christ—not how sinful we are.
“For I received from the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread. When he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “Take, eat. This is my body, which is broken for you. Do this in memory of me.” In the same way he also took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink, in memory of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the Lord’s cup in a way unworthy of the Lord will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy way eats and drinks judgment to himself, if he doesn’t discern the Lord’s body. For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and not a few sleep.” (1 Corinthians 11:23-30 WEB)
Two wrong ways to partake of the Lord’s Supper:
1. Rushing through it by just quickly stuffing the elements in your mouth without pausing to discern the Lord’s body (bread is the broken body and wine is the shed blood of Christ).
2. Being sin conscious, acting as though Jesus’ finished work at the cross is not able to keep you cleansed from the penalty of all your lifetime of sins.
Partake of the Lord’s Supper often, and when doing so, don’t rush through it as though you are popping a common pill. Take time to contemplate, seeing yourself as healthy and n healed through Jesus’ body that was broken for you, and that you are forgiven and blessed because Jesus shed His blood for you.
Enjoy this special souvenir which Jesus gave you to remember Him by. It’s not just for sentimental value. When you partake of the Lord’s supper, you are proclaiming Jesus’ death at the cross, and in turn, you experiential the full benefits which He died to give you. That is, the total redemption from the effects of sin, death, and the curse!

Welcome to Day 3 of India in the colourful Varanasi, visiting the burning ghat where the dead are burned.

I'd never heard of the city of Varanasi before travelling to it. In retrospect, it seems quite ignorant of me because the city is an absolute wonder. It's known as the spiritual capital of India and the energy here was charged with it.
I don't pretend to understand the Hindu religion very well, but it was eye opening to hear and see the religion manifested through various ceremonies, ritual and even when having basic conversations with people on the street. Everyone seemed to be in tune with the same energy.
Falling for the city happened quickly. The views were remarkable, the people nothing but kind and helpful, and the ambient charged with positive vibes. It's a city I truly will never forget.

The morning starts off waking up on the train travelling to Varanasi from Kolkata. Amazed I successfully slept the whole night on the train. It was surprisingly more comfortable than I anticipated.
Decided to try and brush my teeth in the bathrooms and was greeted to a surprise. hehe. But at least my teeth are clean!
Introduced a few more travelers who were on the same journey as we were. They were a group of about 10 photographers from Malaysia who were on the same itinerary as us and who we kept bumping over the next several weeks.
We got off at Mughalsarai Junction and from there it was a straight journey to Varanasi via Rickshaw or as we called them, TukTuks! Quite a wild journey with sand and dust flying everywhere, but we made it to Varanasi in one piece.
Our hotel was awesome with a stunning view of the Ganges River. We were excited to explore so we left the hotel and went straight on the ghats.
Hidayat successfully managed to get us a really good price for a boat ride so we set off onto the Ganges to see the ghats.
After about 15 minutes the boat man started steering us towards a burning ghat. It's officially called Manikarnika Ghat but its also known as the cremation ghat as this is where the dead are burned. Very eye opening thing to see.
After that it was back to the streets to look for halal food. Eventually found a nice place but wow... their TOILET! Just see the footage. And this is where the vlog comes to an end.
More of Varanasi over the next few days!

Pantang Day 6
This is another long ass vlog and it took me days to complete it because for some odd reason, I kept falling asleep while (trying) to edit the actual momisok ceremony!
The Momisok ceremony is a cultural ceremony observed by the kadazandusun community and usually conducted on the eve of the 7th day of the passing. It's basically a ritual conducted to allow the deceased's spirit to take all his personal belongings and enjoy his last meal before he goes off to the afterlife.
Due to the length of this vlog, I decided I had to do an after thought of the Momisok in the next vlog. InshaAllah.
